IP Lookup Tools DNS Propagation Check

DNS propagation check

Did you change a DNS record? Watch whether the new value appears on Google, Cloudflare, Quad9 and 12 open resolvers in total, compared with the authoritative value.

The comparison uses the A record; AAAA or MX is tried when it is missing.

What is checked?

  • The current value on the authoritative server
  • The value each resolver returns, its response time and stale status
  • Propagation percentage

How do I read the result?

  • Resolvers returning an old value keep the old record until its TTL expires.
  • Resolvers that do not answer are left out of the percentage.
  • Lowering the TTL before a change speeds up propagation.

Frequently asked questions

How long does propagation take?

At most the TTL of the old record. With a TTL of 3600, most resolvers see the new value within an hour.
